Over ten years, education funding in Saskatchewan has been cut by $1,483 per student. And parents need to know that the provincial government’s cuts are impacting their kids — and hurting every community in the province.
To deliver that message, the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation has launched a new campaign that shows the individual and local impacts of cuts to public education — and calls for real investment in Saskatchewan’s future.
Launched on September 21, the campaign is airing province-wide on Connected and linear TV, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and on billboards and hockey rinkboards. Plus, the campaign’s website, SaskSchoolCuts.ca, features an online tool that parents and teachers can use to search for their local school district and see the impact of cuts in their own community.
The creative takes a fresh approach by focusing on a simple fact that viewers probably didn’t know: $1,483 has been cut in per student education funding in the last decade.
As the ads say, just imagine taking $1,483 away from every kid in the province. Because that’s what the government’s cuts have done. And those cuts are really starting to add up.
It’s like taking $45,000 out of every classroom. And cutting millions of dollars in funding for local schools in communities like Prince Albert, Moose Jaw, and Yorkton.

STF’s campaign brings the issue home with custom-built creative that highlights the local impacts. Billboards and rinkboards in local communities and hockey arenas focus on the specific impact of the cut in each local community. Because cuts to education are hurting every community in the province.
