ETFO
Public education holds an incredible promise for every child. It’s the promise of the best start in life. When schools are properly funded and resourced, public education can meet the unique needs of every student, helping kids discover their love of learning and their limitless potential.
But right now, crowded classes in Ontario’s elementary schools are getting in the way of that promise. And when classes are too big, it makes it harder for every student to learn – and for educators to teach.
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario, the largest education union in Canada, is leading the way to help change it. Dedicated to protecting and improving public education for all, ETFO’s Building Better Schools campaign is a multi-year, multi-phase effort to improve classroom conditions.
Our team is helping ETFO connect with more parents and educators than ever before, delivering:
From online bullying to outbursts of frustration, kids today are facing overwhelming challenges at school and beyond. Teachers and educators have the training to spot the unique needs of students, but crowded classes are making it all but impossible to see what students need and deliver the supports they deserve.
ETFO’s new series of ads, called Spot it, challenges viewers to do just that – ‘spot’ specific children and their unique challenge or need within a busy classroom. Bringing viewers into a teacher’s POV, the series highlights the impact that crowded classes are having on students and educators.
The solution is clear. Smaller classes would help unlock the power and promise of public education. And they would give educators the opportunity to do more of what they do best: recognizing the unique needs of students and delivering the unique supports to help them overcome every challenge – and learn to love learning.
ETFO’s campaign sums it up perfectly: Smaller Classes. Big Difference. For students who need more support. For kids who need a bigger challenge. And for parents, teachers, and educators who all share the commitment to giving every child the best start in life.
